Hello! I am Amanda Nehring. I am a caring, fun, and passionate professional. I can help your child learn to read and gain back their confidence.
I began my career as a first-grade teacher almost 18 years ago. After excelling as a classroom teacher, I was invited to join the leadership team as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Staff Development, and Assessment for two K-8th grade campuses. After visiting a school in Pennsylvania for children with dyslexia, I was asked to apply for the Michael Pressley Memorial Fellowship. The research I collaborated on while there resulted in co-presenting at the International Reading Association and the Literacy Research Association.
Over the past ten years, I have helped numerous children with dyslexia conquer learning and have spent countless hours researching the best strategies and honing my craft. I am a certified teacher and Director of Instruction. I am a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner, trained in Orton-Gillingham, and a certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist. I have an excellent track record of helping students with learning differences succeed. My instructional practices are highly personalized and effective.
My husband and I recently moved to San Diego. We have two beautiful and crazy children. As a family, we love going to the beach, hiking, paddle boarding, exploring tide pools, and taking advantage of visiting all the gorgeous places in San Diego. I love reading, writing stories for children, yoga, and creating learning experiences for my children to explore.
Parenting is the most challenging adventure I have embarked upon. It is hard to watch our children struggle. I am here to help your child gain back their confidence and see themselves as readers and writers.
